Russell Family Reunion
James Fleming Russell, Martha Luticia Ross Russell & Family
This web site is a place for
the Russell family and extended families to 'meet' and get acquainted, share
pictures, stories, and other memorabilia associated with the family.
The site has been placed by the branch of the Russell family tree which is
descended from James Fleming (Flem) Russell, youngest son of Phillip &
Lucy Perkins Russell, of Flatridge, (Grayson County) Virginia. Flem settled
in Flatridge after serving in the Civil War because his aunt, Annie Russell
Shuler, had lost her husband and only son and needed help to run her farm.
She left the farm to Flem in return for him working the farm and taking care
of her throughout the rest of her life.
Stephen Campbell Russell, Phillip & Lucy's oldest son, moved his family
from Grayson County to Texas in 1887. His wife was Malvira Virginia Perkins.
After Lucy died in the mid 1840's, Phillip married Ann Parks. In the mid 1860's,
Phillip & Ann moved to Tazewell, VA.
Over the years communication was lost between the family branches. The hope
with this site is for the family to have the opportunity to establish communication
and share information.
A Russell Family Reunion has been held in Flatridge for the past two years.
Plans are to continue each year and we want to reach more of the family so
it will grow each year.
A Russell Tree has been built
at Ancestry.com. If you would like to see it, please send your email address
to the email below. A link into the tree will be emailed to you.
Please share your lineage, pictures and stories by emailing them to russell@russellreunion.org.
Include your branch of the family and descendants to be added to the Russell
Tree. (If you have pictures but no computer to scan them with, contact us.
We may be able to come to your house and scan them for you.)
This site is still under construction.
Help us to make it grow to make it represent all the Russell Family descendants.
